Dr. Eric Exelbert, MD is board certified in Pediatric Critical Care and in General Pediatrics and is a Pediatric Intensivist at the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital. He graduated from the American University School of Medicine in 1998. He completed a combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics Residency at the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University in 2003 followed by his Pediatric Critical Care Fellowship at the Children’s Hospital of Colorado in Denver, CO in 2006. He has been practicing Pediatric Intensive Care Medicine since 2006.

In 2017, Dr. Exelbert formed ExAlt Med, a medical clinic with a desire to connect the complex pediatric and adult patient and the endocannabinoid system. More specifically, the ability to practice and combine endocannabinoid medicine inside and outside the hospital. He has become one of the key physicians and experts in the field of Pediatric Cannabis and lectures regularly. Dr. Exelbert is also on faculty at Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida, and he has begun to lecture medical students on the Endocannabinoid System along with his other Pediatric lecture series.

From November 2019 to November 2020, Dr. Exelbert served as the Medical Director for Fluent Cannabis Care, one of the original Medical Marijuana Treatment Facilities in the State of Florida. Dr. Exelbert is one of the original Editorial Board Members for the American Journal of Endocannabinoid Medicine and also a member of the Board of Directors for the American Academy of Cannabinoid Medicine. He is also a member of the American Medical Marijuana Physicians Associations and the Society of Cannabis Clinicians. In December of 2020, Dr. Exelbert obtained his medical license to practice in the State of Massachusetts (MA). In January 2021, Dr. Exelbert joined the CED Clinic to form CED Pedi, the only practice in MA fully focused on Pediatric Medical Cannabis. Lastly, Dr. Exelbert is teaming with the podcast Sports Cannabis, a podcast focused on active and retired Elite Pro Athletes, to help these athletes break the stigma and push Sports Cannabis movement forward. Dr. Exelbert is currently beginning to write children’s books focusing on cannabis education and pediatrics.

On a more personal note, Dr. Exelbert is the proud father of two teenage girls. Zoe is 18 years old, and Maya is 16 years old. Dr. Exelbert is an avid athlete himself having played soccer for the University of Pennsylvania and a number of select teams prior to medical school. He is a CrossFit Athlete, rides the Peloton, and runs when he can.
